Casino meets private social club in this Las Vegas inspired games room. Echoing the opulence of such establishments as Caesar’s Palace, a mirrored coffered ceiling visually increases the airy sense of spaciousness while concrete tile used for flooring in both the room itself and on the adjoining patio blurs the distinction between indoor and outdoor spaces. Virtually absent is artwork in the traditional sense. Instead, geometric shapes morph into artistic components and provide visual unity. An oversized, circular hassock draws inspiration for its color and shape from the card table’s playing surface. Circles and dots on the lounge area’s wallpaper are repeated in the fabric of the gaming table chairs and a contemporary glass insert in the kitchen cabinetry. A variety of games room ideas can be viewed at www.getdecorating.com The vibrant, full-height wall mural featuring a collage of Las Vegas showgirls and such entertainment icons as Elvis Presley, becomes a focal point and one of this room’s few pieces of wall art. Combined with carefully selected greenery, it also adds a dramatic touch of color that brightens the soothing, neutral tones without becoming a visual distraction. HS
